The importance of early detection (France)
Today, breast cancer affects 1/8 women!
The earlier a breast cancer is detected, the greater the chances of recovery. Thanks to early detection, half of all breast cancers are detected when they measure less than 2 cm. This level of detection allows for very high cure rates while significantly reducing the aggressiveness of the treatments applied. It is therefore important to inform yourself about breast cancer as it can save your life.
Regular follow-up at any age
You should be regularly monitored by your GP, gynaecologist or midwife: palpation of the breasts and armpits are essential indications. If he or she sees an abnormality, he or she will prescribe a mammogram or an ultrasound. This medical follow-up should take place every 6 months or at least every year from the age of 30. It is important that each woman takes responsibility for her own health by performing a monthly breast self-examination.
Please note: Your GP or gynaecologist will have you undergo a mammogram at least every two years, or every year if he or she considers it necessary. In France, "organised screening" is available to women from the age of 50 until 74.
